的 自然学院 而且 应用科学 was created in 2003 by combining the former College of Agriculture 而且 生命科学 with the Mathematical 科学, Natural 科学, 而且 Pre- professional programs from the former College of Arts 而且 科学 而且 the Military Science program from the former College of Business 而且 公共管理.

L而且-grant universities are charged to conduct research, teach the results, 而且 share the benefits with the communities they serve.
的 Morrill Act of 1862, signed into law by President Lincoln, established the l而且-grant
system for colleges 而且 universities in the United States. This legislative act gave
each state 而且 territory an allotment of at least 30,000 acres of l而且 to create an
institution of higher learning focusing on 农业, science, 军事科学,
和工程. This l而且-grant law was the initial seed that allowed the University

的 Hatch Act of 1887 created federal funding for the development of 农业 experiment
stations within l而且-grant colleges, 而且 sparked agricultural research throughout

whereby agents would bring the benefits of this research to the nation’s farmers 而且
citizens in rural areas. As part of the l而且-grant system, the ag真人网址
receives federal funding annually to support research 而且 extension.

A Special Education Amendment in 1972 allotted $3 million federal dollars to the University of Guam in lieu of 30,000 acres as decreed in the Morrill Act of 1862, 而且 accorded the status of l而且-grant institution to the University. In 2022, we proudly celebrate 50th anniversary of this historic occasion.
